The squad played one match against Swavesey College, which they won by 34 points to 12. Slemish try scorers were Niall McGlade, Pater McQuillan and inside centre Blayne McGarry scored 3. Mark Butler converted 3 and scored a penalty. Slemish were glad to emerge victorious from what was a much tighter match than the score line would suggest.
The match, which was played under floodlights at Cambridge Rugby Club on the Friday night, was well supported by Swavesey College parents and teachers, who made up a large majority of about 100 spectators on the sidelines.
On Saturday the boys went punting in Cambridge, taking in the College Backs tour, and then in the afternoon watched the France versus Ireland match.
On Sunday the boys left their Cambridge hotel for Twickenham, where they had a guided tour of the stadium which they all enjoyed. Then it was back on the bus to head for the Madejski Stadium, Reading, to watch London Irish play Newcastle Falcons in a Guiness Premiership match. All the chat amongst the boys before the game was about whether or not Johnny Wilkson would start. Unfortunately on this occasion the England World Cup winner only came off the bench to warm up in front of the Slemish boys.
The squad returned home on Sunday evening, tired, but having thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
