Personal Development and Employability Skills (PDE)

The Prince’s Trust Award and Certificate in Personal Development and Employability Skills (PDE) recognises a breadth of personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers across a range of sectors.

The qualifications have been developed with the aim of progressing learners into further education and/or employment and are available for use with pre and post 16 learners:

They give learners the opportunity to:

  • Develop their own personal growth and engagement in, and through, learning
  • Engage in learning to that is relevant to them and support their development of personal skills and attributes that are essential for working life and employment
  • Prepare themselves for progression into further education programmes, apprenticeships or other work based learning
  • Develop their English and mathematics skills

There is no written examination for this subject. Instead, students complete a series of portfolios and depending on the level of entry they can achieve the following qualifications;

Extra Curricular

We aim to take each Prince’s Trust group on a residential trip to develop teamwork skills, self-confidence, independence and social skills. Trips normally involve a two night stay at an outdoor pursuits centre where students will participate in activities including; canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, hiking, as well as other team orientated tasks.

Homework & Core Assessments

As most of the work is completed during class time, homework is minimal. However, there will be occasions when it is necessary for students to complete work at home.
